Montevia Gamble, the founder and owner of Sweet Destinations was born in Hogansville, Georgia. I grew up fishing, roller skating and dancing. By the age of four her mother decided to move the family to Miami, Florida. From a young age, through the trusty light bulb of my EasyBake Oven, I began my love affair with baking. Into the beginning of my twenties I started heavily collecting and learning from cookbooks. By age 10, I began watching my grandmother prepare cakes from scratch. After graduating from Miami Jackson High School, I enlisted in the Armed Forces, but that was short lived. I learned the secrets of baking and the importance of using the freshest ingredients while cooking beside my grandmother Mattie L. Gamble (Nanny) some 25 years ago. I went to the School of Hardknocks and my Grandmother was the instructor. I had no idea at the time that my grandmother love for baking desserts would lead me into a passionate career by simply using my grandmothers recipes and making them into masterpieces.
My passion with food is to a certain extent due to the fact that I come from a family of wonderful cooks. Later, she became a member of the Miami Dolphins Cheerleader Squad in the 1994 - 1995 seasons. Her career path has been anything but normal, and that adds to a lot of the passion in the sweets she creates.
I serve clients in the Atlanta, and surrounding communities. I also contributes my free time and energy to helping others with finding one’s passion. My son and grandmother has been the inspiration for my motivation and the love of my career.
